RAFFIA REED
Sometimes we work from a self-defence mechanism perspective
We need to ask ourselves why we are defending against the unexpected
Is it the truth that we are scared to seek
or is it the lies we have dared to speak
that keep us wrapped up and bound like raffia reed
only to find that this too unfurl’s like twisted deeds
To till the certainty of truth we expound our life’s roots
We tell ourselves the help was covered in soot
so we can keep our lives from prying eyes
When all we need to is let go so we can fly
To nest our desires cradled in the bosom of clouds
So we have the simple life of living unbound
Living in the life of now and future realities
we must sync our trials with triumphs subtleties
so our sunsets can rival sunrise and we avert demise
